As we head into another Lockdown in Auckland, New Zealand, it is important to keep your mental well-being at the forefront of your goals. We have all read the reports of mental suffering in other countries, as unfortunately suicide rates go up, rates of depression go up, and interestingly, rates of divorce also go up as people are becoming increasingly frustrated with each other, even though they lack physical human contact. Being a positive person can sometimes not feel like enough, so we have taken positivity and given it a mini turbo boost! Here, we are combining a breathing technique using an called Breathly, with an acupressure mat called a Shakti Mat.

There are many reasons for these problems, but rather than focus on the negatives, we prefer to look at the positives.
The Shakti Mat is one of the best tools we have come across to help you improve your state of mind. This is because it's very simple to use, cost effective, and once you're on it, you have no choice but to focus on feeling better! I'm going to show you a quick breathing technique that will not only help you improve your mental state, but also help with your heart rate, circulation, and release those all important feel good hormones so that you can keep being the best version of you - for you, for your family, and your friends. This breathing exercise can be performed with or without a Shakti Mat. If you want to get one, drop me a note - we have them at our studio The Active Lifestyle.
I would aim to increase the time you spend on the Shakti Mat as it can be uncomfortable at first. Starting with just a few rounds of breathing will let you clock in 2-3 minutes, then aim for 5, and finally go for 10 minutes or even longer! You will feel yourself start to relax more and more.
Don't forget, if you ever need help, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Stay safe,
James
